Skill development

Development is a multi dimensional process involving changes in social structures, popular attitudes, and national institutions, as well as the acceleration of economic growth, the reduction of inequality, and the eradication of poverty.

Official unemployment is under 6%, but this fails to capture the true picture, because much of the economy is informal and underemployment remains high. Over the past few years, low growth and high inflation, led by a spurt in food prices, have increased the amount of poverty – the UN Human Development Report estimated poverty in 2011 at almost 50% of the population.

Poverty has increased roughly from 30% to 40% during the past decade. Consider that if 40%of a country’s population is earning their life below the poverty-line in which the people are deprived of basic necessities of life such as clothing, shelter, food, education and medication, such families and their children will be forced to think of their survival only.

Promoting development and sustainable livelihoods
Mankind helps poor communities to improve their lives. With a focus on sustainable development, our programs give poor people better access to essential services, and the opportunity to improve their livelihoods and lift themselves out of poverty, permanently.
We believe people with disabilities should be able to live a full and dignified life. Other projects to support people with disabilities include distributing mobility aids in IDPs, and helping disabled children in Sindh to develop their self-esteem.
